A separate Department of Agricultural Economics came into existence in 1964 as a part of Faculty of Agriculture. In 2001 the name of the Department has been changed to the Department of Agricultural Economics and management. The master level degree programme was started in the year 1964 and Ph.D. programme was stared in the year 1972. So far 23 and 106 Scholars completed their Ph.D. and Master degree, respectively. Presently Intake capacity of M.Sc. (Ag.Econ.) is four and two in Ph.D. In the Department 19 research projects have been successfully completed. The Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India, Sponsored Scheme i.e. Comprehensive Scheme of Cost of Cultivation of Principal Crops in Rajasthan is running in the Department since 1970.

The department has one class room for UG classes of 30 students capacity, one class room for PG classes of 10 students capacity, one seminar room of 40 seats capacity and one library with approx 2000 books & approx 900 journals & reports. Department is also equipped with overhead projector with screen, one slide projector and audio system for conference hall.
