Home Science Extension Education is one of the important disciplines of Home Science. The broad purpose of the discipline is to train students in extension techniques to enable them to transfer Home Science information and technologies to rural families in such a way that people understand and adopt new ideas the improved technologies for better family living.

The specific objectives of this area are to develop among the students.

1.     Understanding of need and role of Home Science Extension in upbringing family and society.

2.     Understanding of needs and problems of rural families and satisfying them in available resources.

3.    Ability to plan, implement and evaluate need based extension programme for rural, and tribal families.

4.    Ability to use various methods and media effectively for dissemination of Home Science technology.

5.     Understanding about various ongoing developmental programmes for women and children

6.     Necessary skills and competence to take up professions in rural development.
