This
discipline pertains to scope of management in judicious use
of resources to achieve the goals. To enhance efficiency and
safety at work the area also focus upon application of
ergonomic principles. Planning for functional housing along
with aesthetics of interior decoration and consumer
education are other fields of study in FRM.
This department attempts of clarify the scope
and meaning of management in the home while helping students
to recognize and make the best use of the available
resources in and around the home. Effort is made to avail of
the local and community resources in the process of
facilitating the students accomplish their individual
purposes. The other broad objectives are:
1. To
stimulate awareness in relation to general economic
conditions and economic problems of families
2. To
facilitate understanding of family’s choice of shelter, its
care, and maintenance and the aesthetic appeal for personal
growth and satisfaction; and
3. To
develop competency in evaluation of existing large and small
equipment in the home for functionality, operation, care and
